Lisbon metropolitan area, with c. 2900000 habitants and located in the western coast of the Iberian Peninsula, Europe. will be studied during BiNatUr, including the municipalities of Lisbon (the capital city of Portugal, population c. 545000 habitants), Almada (population c. 177000 habitants) and Oeiras (population c. 172000). Lisbon has a Mediterranean climate, with dry hot summers and mild rainy winters. With a long history of human occupation, all municipalities present its blue infrastructure heavily altered. Still has we can find neighborhoods built in different epochs, we have the opportunity to study NBS built with several objectives in mind. Lisbon municipality received the Green Capital Award, for which a number of changes in the green infrastructure were made, many of which with NBS some of which will be studied during the project.
